The medieval centre rose in the 11th Century, on the site of a Roman settlement, although archaeological finds display human presence since the Bronze and Iron Age.
Bosciano has a range of facilities including food shops, post office, banks, bars and restaurants.
The town hosts many festivals and Basciano is known for its long tradition of chess amongst its residents and there is an annual Chess Tournament during the famous ‘Sagra del Prosciutto abruzzese’ (festival of ham), held in August.
