Picciano is located at 153 metres above sea level on a hill close to the River Fino. It is a pretty village which enjoys a wide panorama of the Gran Sasso Mountain range. There are are some excellent examples of 20th century buildings and the Museum of Farming Traditions and Arts is worth a visit.
Picciano is famous for its ‘Sagra della Pizza and degli Arrosticini’. Held at the end of July, the town comes alive with groups and bands moving through the streets in local medieval costume.
The 1,305 inhabitants have access to food shops, post office, bank, chemist and restaurants. There is also a market, held each Wednesday.
