Moscufo - Pescara Province

The ancient fortified village of Moscufo is in a wonderful position, equidistant from the airport, coast and mountains. It is at a height of 254 metres above sea level and stretches over hills of olive groves and overlooks the valley of the River Tavo. From parts of the village, it is possible to see the Apennine peaks and clear waters of the Adriatic.

The most important monument of Moscufo is the stunning Romanesque church of Abbazzia di Santa Maria del Lago which dates to the middle of 12th century. In the heart of the village is the 17th century church of San Cristoforo. It is on the main piazza with small narrow lanes radiating from it, where there are several historic buildings, belonging to ancient local noble families, to admire.

The area is known for its excellent olive production and, also for its dairy products. There are also several religious and agricultural festivals which take place each year, the most famous celebrating the local extra virgin olive oil. A great opportunity to enjoy music, good food and wine,

With 3,200 inhabitants, there are many facilities in the village including a newsagent, mini-market, bakery, bank, butcher, pharmacy, post office, bars and restaurants.

There are several buses daily to and from Pescara.
