A terraced house with a panoramic terrace in the heart of the Majella National Park, located in the charming village of San Vittorino, just outside the town of Caramanico Terme.
The house is in fair condition but in need of some modernisation. It is set out over several levels. From an external staircase you can access the first floor where you will find a small porch, a kitchen, living room and bathroom.
Going up a floor there is a double bedroom, a box room, storage space and a terrace with a wonderful mountain view. The property also includes a cantina/cellar of around 37m² with its own entrance on the ground floor.
The house is located in a characteristic little square where, in the summer, the locals gather to eat great food and drink Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine together. There is a fantastic restaurant nearby and in the summer there is a community festival with music, food and fireworks.
This property is ideal for those seeking the tranquility of the unspoilt nature of Abruzzo. It is a perfect base for walking trips, cycling or horse riding.
In about 5 minutes by car you reach the historic town centre of Caramanico where there are many facilities. There are bus stops from which you can go to Scafa, Sulmona, Chieti and Pescara; all of which have train stations. The town enjoys various food and wine events as well as folk festivals in both the summer and the winter. From Caramanico you can easily reach Pescara, a vibrant city on the sea with an international airport.
CARAMANICO TERME - PESCARA PROVINCE
Caramanico is located in the Majella National Park and is home to the best-known thermal spa in Abruzzo. Located at 650 metres above sea level, its origins date back to the Early Middle Ages when it was built as a military settlement. Later in Caramanico's history it began to focus on the presence of its healing waters and it became officially known as Caramanico Terme in 1960. The spas are renowned for their high sulphur content and have been treating people for a range of ailments over the past 400 years.
It is the largest town in the area and has a thriving community. During the summer months there are all kinds of events, such as concerts, open-air music and cinema. The shops are even open on a Sunday, which is very rare in Abruzzo!
Nature too is important, and the Majella National Park contains about 500 kilometres of hiking trails through the mountains. There are cave paintings in Grotta Sant'Angelo and Grotta del Cavallone, the latter being one of the deepest caves in Europe, open to the public. Guided excursions to the nearby Orfento Reserve, National Park of Majella and the Lama Bianca Reserve are also organised.
Caramanico Terme is also included in the prestigious list of the 'Most beautiful Italian boroughs' and the town has shops, chemist, post office and bank. The hotels, restaurants and bars are a great place to meet and chat to the locals.
