RIPA TEATINA - CHIETI PROVINCE
Perched on a hill at 199 metres above sea level, Ripa Teatina is a village with its first settlement dating to 3rd Century BC. During Roman times it became a community which defended the city of Chieti. The ancient wall with two round towers at the entrance to the town can still be seen.
Ripa Teatina is renowned for its vineyards and olive groves which surround the neighbourhood and provide serenity to the area. The Ripa Teatina Cantina is less than 3 kms from the town’s centre where is is possible to taste and buy bottles of Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino and Passerina.
The town is also famous for being the birthplace of Rocky Marciano’s father and there is even a statue of Rocky in the middle.
The 4,083 inhabitants have access to food shops, chemist, bank, post office, bars and restaurants.
The Sagra della Porchetta is a festival in celebration of roast pork. It is held each September and is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
